England has a huge choice of holiday accommodation ranging from country cottages to city apartments. Farmhouses and bed and breakfast rentals are also readily available throughout the country to give you the best possible family vacation. For the traditional self catering country cottage rental many visitors choose the Lake District with its fabulous mountain scenery and fresh water lakes where you can enjoy a relaxing walk amongst some of the most impressive natural resources. Or the more adventurous can enjoy a sail on the many tranquil lakes. A holiday apartment in London will give access to one of the culture capitals of the world; not to mention its fantastic shopping facilities, exciting nightlife, museums and art galleries. If youre looking for sun, sea and surf then a holiday cottage or town apartment in Devon or Cornwall has to be high on your list while Yorkshire has many quaint self catering cottages with the famous dales and castles on their doorstep. Holiday homes in Kent, Dorset, Sussex and Shropshire make an ideal base to visit some of the best gardens open for public access not to mention the glorious countryside scenery. Holiday homes in Oxford, Cambridge or Suffolk are famous for their impressive architecture and cultural heritage. With such a rich variety of culture, nature and nightlife holiday accommodation in historic England will give you the holiday vacation of a lifetime.

The most popular time to visit is between June and September although England's climate is generally mild and temperature extremes infrequent - summer or winter. Northern England tends to be the coolest area, with the south and south east the warmest which includes London, England's capital. The western side facing the Atlantic Ocean tends to be wetter but summer temperatures reaching the high 20's celsius are common and winter frost a rarity. These areas include Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District. The mild climate means that renting a holiday cottage in England is always an appealing option.
